Carrolton, GA July 16th and 17th

July 22nd, 2010

This past weekend we were very happy to be invited back to Carralton, Ga. for the 8th annual rodeo put on by Sherri and Bobby. The hard work payed off for them as the crowds were standing room only both nights. Bill Hankins did a great job of keeping the crowd motivated with his announcing as Kristy Harris kept them on the edge of their seats with her daring trick riding.  Saturday we were invited to go to the Cowboy Shop to sign autographs and many kids showed up for the 1st annual meet the cowboys venue. I would like to send out a big thank you to Sherri and Bobby from the Cowboy Shop for being so hospitable.  I do have to caution you though, it is impossible to visit their store without spending half your paycheck on all of their amazing western apparel.

Columbia, TN. July 9th & 10th

July 22nd, 2010

As soon as we got back from New York, we traveled to Columbia, Tn. for the annual sherrifs rodeo. The rodeo is put on soley by Sherrif Enoch George as a way to provide safe and family freindly entertainment to the citizens of Columbia.   Although the weather made it impossible to kick off the show Friday night, we had a packed house Saturday night and a very fun crowd for a Sunday matinee.  All of the ingredients were there for the spectators to see a first class show from the Oubre Rodeo Company.  Alan Moorehead did an excelent job of announcing, while the very talented Dusty Crane amazed the crowd with her trick ridding and roman riding.  Sherrif Enoch George deserves a great big pat on the back or better yet, he is currently up for election so every one go out this fall and vote for him. If not for his devotion to the community, one of the best rodeos in the south will seece to exist.

Ellicottville, NY July 2nd, 3rd, & 4th

July 22nd, 2010

The trip to New York was a great chance for Wendy and I to find out just how good the truck and trailer as well as us, can handle the road. The Kents are such a freindly family and they put on a great great great rodeo. If you are ever in the area around the 4th of July, you will only be hurting yourself if you dont endulge yourself the opportunity to be entertained.  Along with the rodeo, the Kents also gave the crowd a first class fireworks display after the friday night perfomance.  The kids also joined in on the competition with a very competitive stick horse race. Sam Sweringer along with his crew did a great job of keeping the rodeo fast paced and packed with alot of talent.  It was a treat to leave the 100 degree temps of Alabama and  relax in the cool weather and climate of New Yorktemps in the 50s at night made me second guess going back south. We look forward to going back next year in what we hope will become a yearly trip.

Marrietta, GA. June 18th & 19th

July 22nd, 2010

Marrietta has always been a special rodeo for me.  For many years I watched my father work the crowd there like Beethoven worked a piano.  I knew the kind of response the crowd could give and the electricity in the air is almost enough to power Atlanta.  Besides this was also the first rodeo I ever worked while dad was recovering from a horse accident, so I felt like I had to redeem myself.  Larry Haney has a unique gift for promoting the rodeo there and I knew that the crowd would be there and I had to give it 110%.  With the help of Mark Northal, I feel like the crowd was very happy with the show and I look forward to being back there in September.

Prosperity, SC. June 4th&5th

July 22nd, 2010

A big congratulations to Justin Pritchet and his partner in organizing a very good rodeo.  They have made their debut and rodeo world can expect great things from them.  The entertainment was plentyfull, with Austin Stewart amazing spectators with his fire act and trick roping.  It was a hectic weekend for me though, I had to catch a plane in Montgomery, Al. at 7:00 am on sunday morning and left Prosperity, SC at midnight saturday night.  Thank goodness the highway patrol was taking their doughnut breaks as I put the pedal to the metal…..

Hello!

May 31st, 2010

Howdy, I am sorry that it took so long for my first blog.  Life on the road has been extremely fast paced this year.  I would like to say that although it has been pedal to the metal, we have been very succesful in doing what we intended to do.  That of course is having a ball and making people laugh.  So far this year we have traveled from Oakgrove, LA. to Hemingway, SC. and we have made just as many freinds as we have traveled miles.  We couldn’t have been more ready to hit the road, with brand new acts, new truck and trailer we aim to impress from the time we pull into the rodeo grounds until the time we head on to the next one.  So, stay tuned as I will make weekly updates to this site.  Oh by the way, feel free to send feed back and comments to my email and I will post them on here as well.

May the good Lord bless you until our trails meet again!

Cleveland, TN. ABT Finals

May 30th, 2010

We had a great time this past weekend as we traveled to Cleveland, TN. for the ABT bull ridding finals.  With to many great rides to recall one particular ride, there was numerous scores in the high 80’s and a 91.  Josh Reed won the average covering three bulls in the course of the weekend.  The crowd was a little light on friday night but they made up for it in response.  Saturday nights crowd was electrifying, Diamond Rio started off the evening with a concert and they were craving beef by 8:00.  It was the type of crowd that wanted to laugh, they just needed a reason to.  The trick ropping and Ambulance act was a big hit.  I would like to send a big thank you to the committee for being so hospitable and letting us stay an extra day to enjoy the sights in Cleveland.  Stay tuned as next week we head to Newberry, SC.
